Podcast: Kathakali, a historic Keralan wonder

In this special podcast for Sleuth magazine, Mr Yadhukrishnan Prasad delves deeply into the world of Kathakali, an ancient form of Indian dance that is getting increased international attention. He explains the history and the complexity of this intense, compelling, and challenging art form. He interviews Kathakali dancers young and old. They include a Kathakali master who has been teaching the dance form as a freelancer for the past 20 years, an artist who performed Kathakali in Paris, and a professor of Kerala Kalamandalam, the primary institution of Kathakali in Kerala. Also, there is the fourth interview of a foreigner who has been teaching this dance to multiple international students. Because of her passion, she came to Kerala in 2016 to study dance form. By teaching Kathakali, she is currently making her living during this pandemic situation. The podcast also highlights how Kathakali has been surviving despite the covid-19. Yadhukrishnan also pointed why the entire world should know about this dance and how it can help many countries to highlight their problems.
