Two former students from the University of West London (UWL) open a new podcast studio in order to give more young people access to media equipment.
Paris and Christian opened the studio in Acton, London on May 10 and they have also been using it to record podcasts for their own media production company, called Fresh Media Productions.
The pair hope the podcast studio will be a way for young people in the area to get involved in media production too.
Paris said: “We wanted to open a studio because it’s convenient for us to be able to use it whenever we want, but we also want to give people the opportunity to start their own podcasts too.
It’s usually really expensive to use recording equipment, we are the most affordable in the area because we want young people to use the resources.”
Paris is also a Film Director and Christian a Producer at their media production company, and they are both currently working on their second short film.
The film is called Deon and it highlights the challenges for young people living in London, particularly around the issue of knife crime.
Paris said: “We want to see more young people getting creative, so they can put down the knives and pick up the podcast headphones instead.
A lot of things can start when you’re young, but you just need access to the equipment.”
